Creating a new page
In order to create a new page you need to create a link to the page you want to create.
The recommended way to create this link :

1) Edit the page you want to point from (by clicking the Edit button found on each page).
A new screen comes up, showing a big textarea with the GeboGebo code of that page.

2) Insert your link at the place you want it to be.

To insert a link, type
title_of_new_page

For example, if you enter
Click here to see my new page

the link will appear on the saved page like this: Click here to see my new page

If you want to use the same phrase for the page title and the link, then enter (for example):
My New Page

When you click "Preview" or "Save Page" button, your link will appear like this: My New Page.

3) Use the Preview button, at the bottom, to make sure you entered the link correctly.
But please, don't click the link within the preview page! Save your changes first!

4) After Saving the page, click the red link to reach the new (but not yet existing) page.
You will see a message telling you that the page you want to view does not yet exist.
You can now create the page by clicking the Edit button.

Editing your new page (writing content)

Editing a page
To edit a whole page of your wish first get to it (navigate to it).

Once you are looking at the page you want to edit, click the "Edit Page" button (found
at the top and/or bottom of the page), and make your changes to the code of the page.

If the page you want to modify is quite big and has lots of headlines that divide the content into (logical) parts then you also can edit those parts instead of the whole page.
Click one of the edit links on the right of each headline to get into edit mode for this part, defined by the headline and its level.
While you edit a page, it is locked for other users until you finished your edit session (by saving or cancelling) or until you reached the timeout. The timeout depends on the administrators settings and is by default 15 minutes.
This lock is always set for the complete page, even when you edit only a part of it. So no real time collaboration on one page is possible with GeboGebo.

Before you save your changes you should take a look onto it with the Preview. It will display your page as it will be displayed, after you saved it. The page is kept locked to other users until you finally press the Save button.

If you are a logged-in user, then you have the possibility to declare the page to be locked for anonymous editors. This makes the page uneditable for users who have not created an account.

Check the checkbox keep current revision and avoid history entry if you think your change was too unimportant for others. This also avoids that notification emails to subscribers are send, if you are a logged-in user.
Anonymous users can't avoid email notifications to subscribers. This is a control mechanism against spammers and other malicious edits.

The Log text area takes your up to 255 characters long desciption of the changes you've made. It will appear in the pages history, any notification emails to subscribers and in the RSS-feeds.

The function of Keywords (field:"Keywords describing the content")

a.k.a. Keywords describing the content

Keywords are meant to help users find content when searching.
You should use summary key-words which do not already appear in the text of the page.
These keywords are added to the fulltext index for the site, and therefore can be included
in search results.

 • (GeboGebo Wiki Keywords serve the same function as meta name="keywords" content="..." on HTML pages.)

The keywords that have been entered for a page also appear on the Special Page "gebo:allpages",
where they serve the function as a sort of "page summary". You may want to keep this in mind when filling
out or adding to the "Keywords describing the content" field.

For specific details about how the keywords you enter in the "Keywords describing the content" field
are used by the search routine, see manual:searching#keywords describing the content.

Note: "Keywords describing the content" means for the entire page, not just for the changes you just made,
and should not be limited to any one section (if, for example, you are editing just a section of the page,
keywords should apply to the page as a whole).
